At MMH Men's Mental Health, we believe in supporting individuals who are making a tangible difference in their communities. Andrew Margett is one such individual, dedicating his time and energy to combat loneliness and social isolation through Chat Club CIC in Derby.
The Mission Behind the Miles
Andrew is preparing to run the 2025 Derby Ramathon on Sunday, 29th June, to raise funds for Chat Club CIC—a free nighttime café operating on Friday and Saturday evenings. This initiative provides a welcoming space for anyone feeling lonely or socially isolated, offering a chat, a hot drink, and some food without judgment.
In addition to the café, Chat Club hosts community meals six times a year, fostering a sense of belonging and connection among attendees.
A Personal Journey
Andrew's commitment to Chat Club is deeply personal. As a recovering gambling addict, he understands the profound impact of isolation. He shares, "If I wasn’t to take my own life, I would have been homeless, lonely and have nobody." This experience fuels his dedication to providing others with the support and community he once needed.
